IdeaSpace: Thinking for a better Scotland
The Glasgow Science Centre, October 2016
IdeaSpace was a 3-day 'exhibition of Scotland’s most innovative and exciting social, economic, cultural and environmental thinking' to coincide with the SNP annual party conference. Conceived and executed by Common Weal, IdeaSpace had over 40 participating organisations and was attended by the hundreds, with press coverage by The National, The Herald and the Guardian. As the graphic designer for Common Weal, I was responsible for the branding, execution and production of programmes, flyers, promotional material (physical and online), handouts and large format banners and posters for the event hall.
The ‘Empty Chair’ Project for Scottish PEN
In 2009 I was chosen to work on a design commission for Scottish PEN entitled ‘The Empty Chair’ to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The chair travelled to Edinburgh International Book Festival, the Writer’s Museum in Edinburgh and the National Library. A ‘bonsai’ model of it was presented to Japanese PEN as a gift. I then worked on another chair, commissioned to celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to the Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo which stood as the centre piece at Amnesty International’s award ceremony in Norway and now sits in the House of Literature, Oslo.
